Heat Pump Clothes Dryers

Unlike standard dryers, which discard the hot air used to dry clothing by releasing it outside, heat pump dryers can actually repurpose that heat. The process involves capturing the hot air that would have been wasted, removing the moisture in the air and recycling it as a heat source for the next load of laundry. Hybrid heat pump dryers feature an electric resistance element as a supplemental heating source to provide another efficient option that splits the line between traditional electric dryers and full-on heat pump dryers.

Appliance Customer rebate

Heat pump clothes dryer must be a minimum of 3 UCEF or greater but cannot exceed 8.0 UCEF.

Application details

Basic qualifications

  • Unit must be an electrically heated ventless dryer.
  • Unit must be new; cannot be a used or repurposed item.
  • Must reside in Utah and purchase electricity from Rocky Mountain Power on approved rate schedules (see link to the full Qualifications page below).
  • Unit must have a capacity of 4.0 cubic feet or greater.
  • Unit must be on the Qualified Heat Pump Clothes Dryer List at time of purchase.
  • Homes are eligible for one (1) heat pump clothes dryer rebate per service address.
  • All-in-one models are eligible for one (1) rebate (washer or dryer, not both).

Additional program requirements:

  • Homes are eligible for one (1) unit. If a customer is applying for two (2) units or more, please contact the program before applying, as additional information is required.
  • If applying for a multifamily property [up to three (3) units per foundation], please submit one application per unit. For properties with four (4) or more units, please see our custom Multifamily Program.

Application details

  • After meeting program qualifications, submit all required documents through the online portal within 180 days of purchase.
  • A digital image of your itemized receipt or the confirmation email of your online purchase that includes the manufacturer’s name and model number is required for the application.
  • Your rebate will be issued within 14 business days after we review and approve your application. Missing information may delay processing and delivery.

Customer eligibility

Residential electric customers residing in the state of Utah who purchase their electricity from Rocky Mountain Power on rate schedules 1, 2, or 3 qualify. Landlords who own rental properties served by the company in the state of Utah where the tenant is billed on rate schedules 1, 2 or 3 also qualify for this program.
